She is Lecturer of English at Eastern Illinois University, associate editor of The Dickensian, journal of The Dickens Fellowship (est. 1902), associate editor of the Charles Dickens Letters Project, co-editor of Dickens Search, and Treasurer of The Dickens Society. ​ ​Areas of research and expertise include Digital Humanities, Textual Studies, the English Novel, and Nineteenth-Century Race and Gender, Composition, and ESL.
