Tijmes, Jaime

Jaime Tijmes is tenured associate professor at Universidad de La Frontera Law & Business School (Temuco, Chile), where he has worked since 2013 . His main research interests are International Economic Law and Legal Theory. Jaime has been awarded two prestigious state-funded Fondecyt research projects as head investigator, as well as other projects as head investigator or co-investigator.Jaime studied law at Universidad de Chile, is a lawyer licensed to practice in Chile and holds a Dr. iur. (PhD equivalent) from Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen (Germany). In 2016 and 2018 Jaime was elected for two consecutive two-year periods as Head of the Law Department. From 2015 until 2017, he was founding Director of the Universidad de La Frontera Research Center on International Challenges. Since 2014, he has been visiting professor at the Heidelberg Center for Latin America in Santiago, Chile. Jaime is a DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) alumnus. The Temuco Appellate Court has appointed him as arbitrator in several cases and he also has working experience at the World Trade Organization.
