Tshitshelnitski, Yekhiel

1909–1980

Yekhiel Tshitshelnitski studied, in the 1930s, at the Kiev party school; he worked for the newspaper "Yunge gvardie" and "Der shtern". In the Second World War he was a volunteer and, as a journalist, he published a number of articles and reportages on Jewish soldiers and officers fighting in the Red Army. After the war he was a correspondent for the newspaper "Eynikayt" from South Ukraine. In the 1970s he was first secretary, then deputy chief editor of the journal "Sovetish heymland". He published documentary narratives on the Second World War, essays and literary fiction.
