Christie and Ansell (London)

In February 1769 took place the first of a number of picture sales in which Robert Ansell of Margaret Street, Cavendish Square, consigned to Christie paintings which had been acquired on the continent. Several further such sales followed and Ansell and Christie became partners in 1777 and remained so until 1784
