Diss. Fachbereich Gesellschaftswissenschaften und Philosophie der Univ. Marburg; aus Malatya, Türkei. Holding double doctorate degree, he is Professor of German Language and Literature and also Professor of Political Science. His areas of expertise and research include international relations, cultural diplomacy, science diplomacy, media and communications, translation science, multiculturalism, the relationship between culture and politics, teaching Turkish as a second language and non-governmental organizations. Published nationally and internationally, Professor Ateş is also the founder and global advocate of Academic and Scientific Cooperation Project of Turkey (TABIP).
