1930 - Moscow Institute of Steel (MIS), separated from Moscow Mining Academy (Moskovskaja Gornaja Akademija), became an independent institution of Higher Education; 1962 - MIS and Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Gold were combined into one with the name of Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys
