Lo, Mun-Hou

LO Mun Hou is an associate professor at NUS College. He was previously a faculty member at NUS University Scholars Programme (USP) from 2001-2022. His degrees are in English and American Literature, receiving his B.A. from Princeton University, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University. He teaches critical thinking and writing classes on tourism and authenticity, and on clothing and identities. He also offers interdisciplinary courses on the history of close reading and its alternatives, Singaporean nostalgia, readers and reading, and theories of gender and sexualities, as well on critical reflection. This teaching has been acknowledged with awards at both program and university levels. He won the USP Teaching Excellence Award seven times between 2003 and 2019, and was on its three-year honor roll twice; the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Award thrice, and likewise placed on its honor roll; and, in 2012, was recognized with the NUS Outstanding Educator Award. He was a member of the NUS Teaching Academy from 2012-2015.
