Avalos, Susana

is a doctoral candidate (ABD) and instructor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Old Dominion University. Susana researches trans people’s spatial experiences in physical and online spaces. Specifically, Susana is interested in how trans people navigate safety, resist victimization, and the role of community support in overcoming trauma. Susana’s work appears in the Journals of Crime & Delinquency, Homicide Studies, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Critical Criminology, and Gender Issues.
