grew up in Latin America; bachelor's degree in Political Science and International Relations from Florida State University in 2011; master's degree in International Affairs from Florida State University in 2013; in 2015 he completed the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master in International Migration and Social Cohesion at the University of Amsterdam, Deusto University, and University of Osnabrück; PhD from the University of Twente in 2021
