Barrera, James B.

Dr. James B. Barrera is Professor of History at South Texas College in McAllen where he teaches U.S., Texas and Mexican American history and the History Capstone course. He received his B.A. in History from Texas A&M University-College Station, M.A. in Borderlands History from the University of Texas-El Paso, and Ph.D. in History from the University of New Mexico. His research and teaching interests focus on the history of Latinos/Mexican Americans in the U.S. emphasizing civil rights, social movements, oral narratives, cultural identity and educational activism in the twentieth century
