Leḳsiḳ fun Yid.-shraybers, 1986 (Aronof, Yosef; b. 3-15-1882, Russia; d. 5-18-74, Montreal) - YOYSEF ARONOF (JOSEPH ARONOFF) (March 15, 1882-May 18, 1974) He was born in Kherson, Russia. As a Russian soldier, he escaped from the front against Japan in 1904 and came to Canada. He wrote poems and stories for Keneder odler (Canadian eagle) in Montreal and Idisher zhurnal (Jewish journal) in Toronto. Among his books: Gezangen un dertseylungen (Songs and stories) (Montreal, 1946), 73 pp.; A gebet tsu der yu-en (A plea to the United Nations) (Montreal, 1955), 126 pp.; Der mentsh un di levone (The man and the moon) (Montreal, 1959), 26 pp. He died in Montreal
