Rivière, Dora

1895–1983

Dora Rivière was an ophthalmologist and a member of the underground in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, France; involved in the rescue of Jewish children; later denounced to the authorities, arrested and sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp; she used her medical skills to help fellow inmates, before being transferred to Mauthausen, where she was liberated in April 1945; after the war, she became Deputy Mayor in charge of Social Affairs in Saint'Étienne;
