Rae, Kenneth
[189X]
British drama scholar Kenneth Rae, a member of Britain's National Theatre Board (Kenneth Rae was appointed the first Secretary of the National Theatre Board in 1964) and Director of the British Centre of the International Theatre Institute, was in the forefront of the fundraising for a permanent home for the Royal National Theatre, temporarily housed at the Old Vic. This proved to be a long-term project. Initially authorized by an Act of Parliament in the year of this letter, the effort endured many funding delays and difficulties before the new National Theatre finally opened its doors in 1976
