Doll, James P.

1919–1972

Rev. James P Doll CSC Feb. 10, 1919 – March 13, 1972 ... a microbiologist at the University of Notre Dame since 1956, died this morning in Hennepin County Hospital, Minneapolis, where he had been a patient for two and a half months. He was born in Perham, Minn., on Feb. 10, 1919, entered the Holy Cross Seminary on Aug. 15, 1939, and was ordained on June 24, 1946. He received his bachelors degree from Notre Dame, his master degree from Holy Cross College, Washington DC, and his doctorate degree from the University of California, Berkley. From 1954 to 1960, he was a teacher and prefect at Notre Dame and from 1963 to 1968 he was on staff at the University of Portland, Portland, Ore. In 1968 he returned to Notre Dame, where he was engaged in teaching and research
