Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Pretoria and Research Fellow on the Oceanic Humanities for the Global South project (www.oceanichumanities.com) based at WISER, University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. She explores literary and cultural representations of the deep ocean, the Indian Ocean and the Southern Ocean and Antarctic seas, researching ocean writing of the global South in a time of social and environmental change.
