Her current research intersects the substantive areas of Immigration/Migration, Social Stratification, Culture, Intergroup Relations, and Contemporary Chinese Society. A central thread of her research seeks to understand how various facets of culture affect immigrants' socioeconomic incorporation in U.S. labor markets, with broader implications for ethnic stratification. She also studies the interlinks between international migration and intergroup relations (focusing on anti-immigrant and anti-Asian sentiments in different national contexts) or child development. The third stream of her research mainly assesses the impacts of ongoing societal transformations in contemporary China on individuals' life chances.
