Rhodesians Worldwide website, viewed on June 12, 2018 : Obituary (Derek Hudson; Director of the Zimbabwe Academy of music, passed away peacefully in his sleep in Johannesburg on 20 December, 2005; Hudson was born on 23 May, 1934 in Hove, England and was educated at Tonbridge in Kent; study piano, composition and conducting at the Guildhall School of Music in London; His orchestral debut was with the English Chamber Orchestra at the Wigmore Hall in London; Appointed to the Bulawayo Philharmonic in 1974, Hudson also became Director of the Zimbabwe Academy of Music in 1976.
