Schley, David

David Schley is an associate professor in the Department of History at Hong Kong Baptist University. His research and teaching center on nineteenth-century U.S. history, with a particular focus on urban history and the history of capitalism. His first book, Steam City: Railroads, Urban Space, and Corporate Capitalism in Nineteenth-Century Baltimore, was published by the University of Chicago Press in October 2020. I am currently working on a study of traffic and mobility in New York City before the automobile.
