Deeg, Emil

1926–2004

Dr. Emil W. Deeg, age 77, of Lemoyne, died late Thursday evening, April 1, 2004 at the Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp. He was born in Selb, Germany, on September 20, 1926. Dr. Deeg studied at the University of Wuerzburg, Germany, where he received his Ph.D. specializing in Solid State Physics. He did post graduate work at the Max Planck Institute also of Wuerzburg, Germany. He was a member of the technical staff at Bell Labs in Allentown, PA, and also at Jenaer Glaswerke Schott u. Gen, Mainz, Germany. From 1965 to 1967, Dr. Deeg was a Professor of Physics at the American University in Cairo, Egypt. In 1967, he and his family moved to the United States where he was employed in various research management positions by American Optical Corporation, Southbridge, MA; Anchor Hocking, Lancaster, OH; Bausch and Lomb, Rochester, NY; Mead Office System, Richardson, TX; and AMP Corporation, Harrisburg, PA. He retired from AMP Corporation in 1992, but continued to function as editor of AMP's technical journal
