Steven P. Black, Ph.D., University of California, Los Angeles, 2010; author of Creativity and Learning Jazz and The Paradox of Teaching Creativity as well as other publications related to HIV/AIDS and South Africa. Dr. Black's research examines verbal art, performance, health, and illness. Leads a field school focused on global health in Costa Rica; conducted ethnographic fieldwork in Durban, South Africa. Is a jazz saxophonist, holds a B.A. in ethnomusicology
