RESEARCH INTERESTS: Biogeography, phylogeny and conservation of Hymenoptera, particularly bees and sphecines; interactions among flowers and flower-visiting insects; evolution of trophic specialization, particularly pollen specialization; ecology and the evolution of reproductive behavior. Theory and principles of evolutionary biology; including systematic theory and its application to comparative biology.
