My research interests include language aptitude, working memory, form-focused instruction, task-based language teaching, corrective feedback, and research methods. My primary interest is in investigating how the process and product of second language learning are affected jointly by instruction and learners’ cognitive and affective differences. My ultimate goal is to reveal how learner-external and learner-internal factors interact to influence learning success and explore ways to cater to learners’ individual differences such as by identifying instruction types that fit different types of learners and designing tasks that minimize the unfavorable effects of individual difference factors.
