Pinard, Danielle

Danielle Pinard has been a Faculty Professor since 1987. Called to the Barreau du Québec in 1984, she was a law clerk for Judge Antonio Lamer at the Supreme Court of Canada before undertaking graduate studies in law at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She generally teaches undergraduates, with a focus on the basics of public law. Her interests include the fundamentals of constitutional law, specifically, on the factual component of judicial reasoning in this field. Danielle Pinard has written numerous articles on questions relating to adequate proof in constitutional conflicts. This interest in how social facts are increasingly treated in Canadian courts has led her to integrate observations made during her previous undergraduate education in the social sciences, as well as during her Master’s Degree in social work, into her legal research.
