Background: Eric worked as a wildlife tour guide, with a special interest in penguins and marine mammals, before engaging in Tourism Studies. Research Interests: Eric’s research interests centre on the relationship between tourism and the human and nonhuman world, particularly the roles of nonhuman animals and the sublime landscape. A developing interest is in the implications for tourism of the utopian notion of the eco-city city as a centre for species conservation and habitat provision. Currently, Eric is investigating the process of the production of protection to include the urban environment.
