Was Senior Lecturer in Drama at the University of Manchester for over twenty-seven years. Specialized in aspects of contemporary playwriting, performance and production. Is also a theatre designer of international repute. Has worked with Alan Ayckbourn as a designer for more than forty-five yearsin the Scarborough theatres and elswhere, and is the author of books on stage and costume design
