Leṿin, Lipman

1877–1946

Writer in Hebrew and Yiddish, Levin begann his literary career with the publication of a short story, "Dos Yoseml", in the journal "Der yud". In 1904 he moved to St. Petersburg where he worked as an editor at the journal "Der Fraynt". In 1908 he settled in Vilna and worked there as a journalist and a writer. In 1916 he served in the army. After the 1917 revolution he moved to Moscow. After a long period of silence he published again in 1932. A main feature of his work is the revolutionary mouvement between the two revolutions of 1905 and 1917.
