"She will be remembered as a US diplomat in Africa and India, a workshop leader for Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development in central Europe, an anti-poverty worker in Appalachia, a journalist and editor of a social science journal. She was Professor Emerita of Sociology and Urban Studies at San Francisco State University. Upon her retirement she founded Latitude, a cultural center in Southwest France."
