Jeffrey H. Simpson was born in New Hampshire. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 1985 and obtained his Ph.D. from Umass-Amherst in 1992. He currently works as the Director of the Department of Chemistry Instrumentation Facility at MIT in Cambridge, MA
