Lin, Syaru Shirley

Geboren und aufgewachsen in Taiwan, kam 1992 (ca. 14jährig) in die USA und ging zehn Jahre später nach Hongkong. Member of the founding faculty of the master’s program in global political economy at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, teaches in the Department of Politics at the University of Virginia. Graduated from Harvard College and earned her masters and Ph.D. from the department of politics and public administration at the University of Hong Kong. Professor Lin retired as a partner at Goldman Sachs, was a founding board member of Alibaba Group and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation. Prior to her work in private equity and venture capital, she specialized in the privatization of state-owned enterprises in mainland China, Taiwan and Singapore.
