Bregman, Yoysef

1882–1978

In 1908 Yoysef Bregman was banished from the country for his political activity. In the same year he participated to the Tshernovits language conference and became a passionate Yiddishist. Back in Russia he organized and administered the Kletskin Farlag, and was one of the founder of the journal "Di yidishe velt". Bregman studied in detail the Yiddish labor organization, in particular the Bund, and left a large card-file on this topic.
