Kotliar, Iosef

1908–1962

Yosef Kotliar was born in Berditschew, north Ukraine. He studied in Kharkov (Kharkiv) and began working, by the end of the 1920s in the redaction of the Yiddish newspapers "Zay greyt" and "Yunge gvardie". His first poems were published in 1930 and were followed by a number of poetic works published in several antologies. He wrote extensively for a public of children and young people. His poems were translated and published into Ukrainian and Russian.
