Loytsker, Khayim

1898–1970

Born in an ukrainian shtetl, Khayim Loytsker studied linguistics and literature, later also pedagogy. In the 20s he founded an orphanage in his home town, he was also active in the educanional fiel publishing textbooks and other material for Yiddish schools. He specialized in the linguistic aspect of yiddish literature and wrote on language and style of the most noted Yiddish authors.Loytsker collaborated to the work on the Russian -Yiddish dictionary and published widely on Yiddish grammar and orthography. Arrested in 1949 he was released in 1955.
