Vu, Kim Tuan

1961

I was born in Nam Dinh, a city in North Vietnam, 60 miles south of Hanoi. I spent my childhood in the countryside for a few years being evacuated during the Vietnam War. In 1975, I was admitted to a special mathematical boarding high school at Hanoi University of Education. In 1979, I received full scholarship to study mathematics in Belarus. Upon my graduation, I needed one year to defend my Ph.D. and another two years to complete my Doctor of Sciences degree, at 26. Upon returning to Vietnam, I joined the Hanoi Institute of Mathematics. In 1994, I was appointed Associated Professor, and in 1999 promoted to full Professor at Kuwait University. In 2003, I moved to the University of West Georgia. I am married with a daughter and a son.
