Jha, Sadan

Sadan Jha is trained in the discipline of history (with a focus on modern India). His research interests are in history of visuality, symbols and icons. For some time, he has been working on the history of colours. His other research interest has been contemporary urban life and he has been focusing upon the recent transformation of the city of Surat to comprehend urban society. Sadan Jha’s publications include Reverence, Resistance and the Politics of Seeing the Indian National Flag (Cambridge University Press). He is Associate Professor at the Centre for Social Studies, Surat.
