b. 1962 in Dortmund; studied Romance philology and ancient and modern history at Münster and Bordeaux; supplemental training as an editor; she worked for many years as a journalist; in 2007 she took up her position at the Goethe-Institut; managed the Goethe-Zentrum in Namibia for 3 years, before becoming director of the Goethe-Institut Angola in 2010
