"History of Kyrgyz State Technical University started in October 1954 from creation of Frunze Polytechnic Institute (FPI) on the basis of Technical Faculty of Kyrgyz State University. ...In 1992-1993 on the basis of four faculties two independent Universities were established - Kyrgyz State University of Construction, Transportation and Architecture and Kyrgyz Mining and Smelting (Metallurgy) Institute named after U. Asanaliev. At the same years Faculty of general technics of FPI in Osh city became an independent University (Osh Technological University).
