Van Ryzin, John

John Van Ryzin was chairman of the department of statistics at Columbia University and a senior mathematician at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, L.I. Dr. Van Ryzin had taught biostatistics and statistics at Columbia since 1980 and became chairman in 1985. He was an authority on medical statistics and survival analysis, and the adverse effects of radiation and toxicity. He was a member of the science review panel of the Environmental Protection Agency.
