Connors, Michael Kelly

Associate Professor, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Nottingham, UK. Ph.D. (Political Science) University of Melbourne, 2000. Michael joined the Department of International Relations at XJTLU in August 2018. He has previously worked at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus, La Trobe University, Leeds University, Thammasat University, Chulalongkorn University and City University of Hong Kong. His research covers the politics of Thailand, nationalism, ideology, cultural policy, intellectual history and the international politics of the Asia Pacific with a focus on Thailand, Japan, Australia and Southeast Asia. Current research projects include approaches to populism (for special issue edited by Marco Bünte (Monash University Malaysia) and Andreas Ufen (GIGA, Hamburg), surveying Area Studies in China.
