research focuses on the philosophy and intellectual history of music, with specific attention to practices of philosophical self-justification both in the tradition of continental musical thought (Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Bloch, Adorno, Jankélévitch, Deleuze) and in vernacular practices of musical modernism (punk, no wave, hip-hop, indie rock)
