Teaches at the University of California, Merced, USA. Focusing on gender construction in science fiction film and television, her work has appeared in The Journal of Popular Film and Television, Post Script, Reconstruction: Studies in Contemporary Culture, and in several anthologies, including The Essential Science Fiction Television Reader. She is on the editorial board of Science Fiction Film and Television, and has served as the Division Head of Film and Media of the International Conference for the Fantastic in the Arts and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Science Fiction Research Association.
