"1958 named as Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology; fr. 1959-1975 called as Namgyal Institute of Tibetology; then fr. 1976-1981 again renamed as Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology; in 1982 for 1 year changed its name to Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology and other Buddhist Studies; again fr. 1983-1998 called Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology; finally in 1999 until now calling as Namgyal Institute of Tibetology"
