Iran. Sāzmān-i Mudiriyat wa Barnāma-rīzī-i-i Kišwar

"MPO was formed under a sanction approved by the 86th session of the Supreme Administrative Council held in March 2000, by the amalgamation of two major and powerful organizations, namely PBO (Plan and Budget Organization) and SOAE (State Organization for Administrative and Employment Affairs) and formally began its activities as of July 2000. The newly established MPO was formed to help favorably realize the Presidents responsibilities and authorities (according to the Act 126 of the Islamic Republic of Iran Constitutional Law) and also to pave the way for integration and consolidation of macro management in the country, to converge management systems through medium and long term plans, to centralize the duties and activities which are consistent, compatible and related to one another, in the field of planning, to reduce parallelism and interference of the responsibilities assented by line organizations, to promote decision making and expertise capabilities of the government and to prepare the ground for favorable achievement of cultural, social and economic plans. MPO is presided over by its Head (who is Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran), and comprised of five independent bureaus directly supervised by the MPO Head, nine deputies (each comprising of various bureaus), ten affiliated councils and boards, four affiliates and also 30 provincial management and planning organizations."
