PorTAL (3 : 2002 : Faro)

In FracTAL, the 1st conference of the TAL series [series of conferences: FracTAL 1997, VexTAL 1999, PorTAL 2002, EsTAL 2004], TAL stood for Traitement Automatique des Langues, but it now no longer means anything and is there only to identify it as a successor conference in the same series as FracTAL; recent TAL conferences have used "International Conference on Natural Language Processing" as an alternate name even though they know it doesnt distinguish it from other conferences of the same name
